Well! I think this term is starting to get very serious. >< We just got warned today by our Math and GP tutors! And judging by the number of tests that we are going to have (and the number that we've already had ~~this term~~ these 7 days), term 2 is going to be very serious business indeed.

Doesn't really help that term 2 is competition season does it? SYF and national competitions (EHH must come and support ah)! Whee. Hopefully everyone will do well in both CCA and schoolwork! :D JIAYOU JIAYOU WE CAN DO IT!

founder's / games / kbox / salt day

21st March 2007. An eventful day to HCI. (actually 21/3 is always eventful for hc) An eventful day to 07S6B. Its founder's day, game's day, our first kbox day as well as hc's Ong Teng Cheong Student Activity and Leadership (SALT) Centre opening ceremony.

HC was founded this very day, 88 years ago. So as a form of celebration, the high school section hosts a prize presentation ceremony, inviting Outstanding and Excellence award winners to the ceremony. And how do the college year ones celebrate? Games Day.

Games Day was interesting, but a little kexi.
Artemis' results:

After games day ended, and after 07S6B stoned around school for quite some time, we finally decided to go cineleisure for KBox. Our first session (: pity theres no pictures. Zhiwei Michael Wenwei Zhenchao Sionghwai Shishuang Farrica Alicia Wenjing Catherine Melissa Sophia Jack Eddy Andre went. Thats 15. More than half the class (: Ahha the girls were super high there. And we didn't really get to experience EDDY's singing.

And HC held the SALT centre opening ceremony at night. They told the students to go at 430 for packet dinner, be at the SALT centre by 600 AND they started the event at 740. LASTLY the ceremony lasted only 10 minutes. So basically those who went early stoned for 3.5 hours for a 10 minute event?!

important stuff

First and foremost, lets wish a happy birthday to our dear CT rep Chip Koh. or Alan Koh. or Dale Koh. anything. anyway. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Next, the games comm (war paint) requests that every CT send at least 3 war paint helpers. So... any takers? Ivan?

Lastly, we want class outing right? HURRY DECIDE!!!

oh yeah mahjong was fun. i finally learnt how to play :D

some ppl in our class are crazy. and that includes me..

at first we met up in sch to study (you may assume so).. and then.. guess what. a few of us decided to go to jack's hse to play mahjong.. namely, eddie, chenyang, siong and me.

im rather lazy to type a lot.. so i shall just list a few interesting happenings..

there were many cases of xiao/da xiang gong... one of which happened to me and i only realised it near the end of the game, ie, near the 7 and a half (how do u call it) tiles (?). which was quite dumb. and a few other random cases when we happened to be quite blur or sleepy.

eddie zha hu-ed once.. wahahha. its the 6,7 and 9 shuo/bamboo rite. this guy probably cannot count.

some of us won quite big, although we don't play with money or chips. i rmb i won once with a 6 tai coz i got six flowers and 2 animals. cy got a closed ping hu. also a few random big ones that i cant rmb.. feel free to add more ok.

some other interesting happenings. but THIS TAKES THE CAKE.

it deserves a photograph.

the most amazing, alert and whose name has been already mentioned in the above, otherwise known as eddie, took TWENTY tiles at the start of the game. ppl normally start at 13 or 14 tiles right. but this guy actually took TWENTY tiles. it itself is an amazing achievement. u have to be THAT blur to be able to take that many extra tiles... those of u who had da xiang gong before, it is nothing compared to this... and eddie didnt even manage to throw out all the extra tiles when the game ended with someone's win.

and we left at about 11. seriously. all turning to bridge and mahjong addicts. eddie, it's most probably your fault.

Haha... seeing the title and you will noe that this entry is from a random person like me. Anyway, congrats to s6b for getting the champion for blogging competition. (although i contribute duo) Congrats to Mel for the successful appeal also. You can go OAC!!

Next, i have something important to say.*Being seriously serious* We noe what happened today, i shall not elaborate on it. I chose to keep mum, not b'cos i have nth to say, but i chose not to say it as it is recess time, i just dun wanna spoil the 'eating mood'. I bet that if we want to point out every little mistake, it will take hours to say the mistakes.(not everyone is perfect)

However, i think that letting one realize one's flaws is important, but letting one noe how one can change is more important. Here's some suggestion on how one can change...(you can take it or leave it) 1. Stop sticking too closely to those who is good to you(they will just stop hanging out with you) 2. Have a life of your own.(being someone else won't make you happier) 3. dun niao ppl when they are already sad.(it will make them hate you even more) 4. Dun niao ppl not so close to you.(you might gif the wrong idea) 5. Dun pester ppl during tut or lec.(ppl want to study!) 6. Some expressions are not meant to be done.(e.g. open eyes widely, saying 'OH MY') 7. Dun bring problems from ur home to school(we are not god that can make your problems go away) 8. Stop thinking that you are bad and you will not be bad. 9. Stop comparing urself to others.(everyone is unique in some ways)

Just to clear things up

WARNING: before you begin reading this post, I have no intent to (1) attract attention, or (2) flame anyone.

With regards to my insignificant post on the tag-board: “Mike: althought longyi's english isn't that good, but he posts rather meaningful stuff” – I copied it word for word. If you can see past the typo, you would realize that it’s more a praise than an insult. Of course, coming from me, it can’t be anything good.

Assumption 1. You treat it as an insult, taking the person who tagged as a reason.

OR – Assumption 2. You read only the first part of the tag.

I don’t know what people have against me as yet, I personally don’t think my tag is being overboard or hurtful in any way. I posted it as just a comment, and I don’t understand why anyone, including “passerby” thinks that I am purposefully targeting long yi in any demeaning way.

haha, so long nvr post oready. anyway, as we have expexted,=D. Our class blog is amongst the top 3 & let's hope we wil clinch de first position tml to faten de pocket of our treasurer..haha... and, most importantly, we muz thank xiong huai and Alicia? for designing such a great website and his consistent effort to post, not to forget, also our rapper, MIke, de 100th poster...and for the JAE thing, think we shd respect watever disicion dat mellissa makes, as wat mr r said, our friendships are not bounded by campus...RMB, no matter wat, we r always de FUNCKy 6B... and for de IP students(esp those from high sch), since we know we shdn't waste de privilage of being able to study in hc and deprive others a chance of getting in, den muz y we mug up and stop slacking(but, sometimes you might be to rest well 2.=D). we can learn from each other, muggers learn hoe to haf more life while slacker learn how to make gd use of their life,=D, and tgt,we move along as a class...

anyway, hoe come no1 talk abt our class outing..? it's so fun, we had cycle, lunch at mac, stoning for a while, archate and POOL, den dinner for some. de most fun part muz be cycle rite? though km n me were dere late, but we still manage to cycle tgt for sometime, and interestingly, i heard, yaohui is only 2nd time cycling..haha... however, if de whole class is dere to cycle tgt, den i think dere wil be more fun and most imptly, more class bonding... anyway, wenwei, hope ur leg injury will recover soon...

just some comments.
the JAE postings are done entirely by MOE, and not hwa chong. so strictly speaking, it is not hwa chong that has posted out a good 1/4 of the PAE applicants, but rather MOE. but at the same time, it is true that the reason this has happened is that there are only like 200+ JAE positions available, excluding DSA (not sure how many), due to the rest of the cohort being IP students.
i agree. it's insane that you need 3 points (!!!) to stay in Hwa Chong. by coming here you have already done one better than me. i would never have made it here, mind you. but then again, i probably wouldn't have chosen to come to hwa chong...

admin will meet to deliberate on the appeal cases later this evening, but if you took a look at the general appeal form, besides your results and subject combi, the only thing to distinguish one appellant from another is leadership/special achievements in academic and CCA, so those who have more stand a better chance. there are no opportunities for tutors or friends to give their recommendations, as if there were, then with everyone writing glowing recommendations, how to distinguish again? thats just the way the cookie crumbles. thats just life sometimes. if it were up to me or us, i'm sure Melissa and everyone 1st intaker who wishes to would stay,but it's not. at the same time, its not the end of the world. hwa chong is not the only good college out there. and i've had ex-students who would be among the average if they stayed here gone to other schools (AJC) and breezed through, scoring among the top throughout her stay there and still nailing her 4A's in the end. so there is still life after posting out. Melissa even appear optimistic about being posted to ACJC, so we should learn to accept it if she remains there and be happy for her, as i'm sure she will remain happy for you guys. and no one says friendship is bounded by our campus fences.

i think Chenyang in his previous post made a good point. if you look at our class composition, practically all the guys are IP ('cept Weilun), while for the girls it is the reverse. personally i feel conflicted when i see non-ip students having to work so hard to get in, and continuing to work so hard, while others just sit back and twiddle their thumbs, not realizing... i won't say privileged they are, but rather how privileged others would feel if there had the opportunity to study here. because if you did i imagine that you would try a whole lot harder to make the most while you are here. no one is demanding straight A's from you guys, as i've said before. but try to understand and keep on par with your work at least. i won't yell at you or send you to CS if you couldn't do your assignments, or even turn up with photocopied solutions, but i would appreciate it if you tried the problems and also try the questions and additional modifications i toss in during tutorials. 6B has been a lively and fun class to teach so far, and i appreciate those of you who may not know all the answers but stay focused and are willing to confidently give your answers whenever i ask for them... and sometimes before (e.g. chenyang, longyi), REGARDLESS of whether they are right or wrong. as well as those ask more quietly but still ask (e.g. farrica, weilun).
so stay a funky and dynamic class.
keep trying. never stop. livestrong.

heello...there has been really a big hoo ha abt jae stuff today..n it realli dampened my mood. its reali sad to know that there are so many 7 pointers cannot continue to stay in hci. its total rubbish dun u think so?..its like hc is asking for perfect score students...yah i know hc is like a top achieving jc n it has the right to enrol onli the best ppl in. but isn't it relali heartless to do so? kicking all th e7 pointers outta hc..after they have worked so hard for 'o's jus to get into a gd jc like hc? omg..its kinda heartless..n the rv population in hc now is like diminshing,...very pathetic state..almost half got kicked out..fly acoss the bridge to njc..nj wil be flooded with rvians lo..practically flooded..lastitme it was filled now flooded..haha..so sad so many leaving..can't help but get pissed with hc..a lil la..haha..hope they can appeal successfully..n for mel, hope u can conitnue in hc too..we'll surely miss u a lot a lot a lot..haha..thought we can create our legacy tgt as a class..oo..so sad..ahh..

Hey all, first time posting!

First things first, a very very happi birthday to mel in advance!! All the best to you!! I know its sort of funny to have it at this time of the year in conjunction of the postings but ya.. jus hope you would enjoy the most out of it. I dunno whats going to happen 2 days later but please please make a decision such that you dun have any regrets. Jia you!

Ok chem.. It’s the second time that it occurred to me that we(high school ppl) are really doing you ppl(non-high sch ppl) an injustice. And so it happened that both occasions are in chemistry lessons.

After getting back the test, a few of us actually did not really feel zibei or inferior in that sense, to quote jack, ‘it’s the true reflection of our standards!’. I was more troubled by the fact that we are really pulling you ppl down. Sometimes, a change of class seems acceptable to me, such that you ppl get to study at the rate suitable for you’al rather than getting affected because of us. I know you’al are the top back in your own secondary schools and the more we shouldn be in this class.

Without IP, O levels would act as a filter to get rid of slackers like us to make hwachong a great place to learn for those who deserve. And there wont be this bunch of ppl who do nothing apart from taking up vacancies in this wonderful school, depriving ppl of their chances. Though many would say this doesn matter and the high school ppl are all nice ppl, let us be reminded of where we are.

A school, a place to learn.

Oh btw, these are all purely personal opinions, jus that I wanted to voice this out.

makeup physics tutorial

Mr R would like to arrange a makeup physics tutorial on Thurs 8th March after your lessons ends at 1.30pm.
so either immediately at 1.30pm, after a short 15 min break starting at 1.45pm, or else after a 30 min break starting at 2.00pm.

this is to make up for the lesson missed on Monday due to the excellent A level results of our seniors.
if we wish for our juniors in 2009 to enjoy similar perks we should make sure we don't fall too far behind, hence the makeup tutorial.
it will probably be 1-1.5 hours in duration, as we are pretty far behind and i doubt anyone wants to come back during the 1 week break, right?

2. There is make up lesson on wed 7/3 from 1pm to 2pm.

hey yoyo ppl..its march alr. very fast right? thinking abt it we've known each other for abt 2 mths alr. haha..its realli fast!haha..great knowing all of u haha fun lot realli..sch theese days are kinda sian except for occasional times when i felt damn high n damn random..haha..just outta the blue..sudden surge..sugar rush ba..hhaha..today's chem lecture realli spoilt my day man..screaming into my ears..i admitted we've have been behaving like a bunch of immature lots with a misplaced sense of humor..but seriously i think she shldn't scream at us like tt..there can't be absolute silence in lecture lo..its practically impossible.. i shan't comment too much on this cos i think the teachers will see..haha..play safe eh..nvm. but today's ct season was like damn funny..videos are very cool!!haha..n the senior senior cheer ics realli super duper funny..their jokes are like har and then hahahax..haha..question mark n then hahaha..ok..i'm not making sense..heck..hahax. anyone running for counsel?? i guess many ppl wanna run for it but its going to be very busy..i want a life. so still thinking twice abt counsel..haha.jia you ppl for the upcoming weeks with more lectures tutorials n tests after holi..haha..n remember mel's bdae on 7 oh..haha..n abt sub combi, haha..we are now taking mecp, cpme,empc,cmpc,pmce etc..so we're all gonna change to pcme right??haha..nvm me..blahx.
